On 29th May 2024, in Geneva, Professor Sanoj Rajan, Distinguished Professor of Law at Zhejiang Gongshang University, had the honor of being one among eight global experts invited to participate in the Colloquium "The Geneva Conventions at 75: A Common Heritage of Humanity." This esteemed event brought together leading experts from around the world to explore the profound connections between traditions, cultures, religions, and International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
Alongside esteemed colleagues from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Professor Rajan engaged in a vibrant exchange of perspectives that enriched the collective understanding of humanity's shared values. The discussions delved into the intricate tapestry that weaves together diverse traditions and the principles of IHL, highlighting the universality and enduring relevance of the Geneva Conventions.
Professor Rajan expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to actively contribute to these crucial conversations. The Colloquium provided a platform for an in-depth exploration of the common heritage of humanity and the role of IHL in safeguarding it.
Following the Colloquium, a public event was held to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Geneva Conventions. The event was graced by the presence of the Director General of the ICRC, adding further significance to the occasion.
This participation underscores Professor Rajan's commitment to advancing the understanding and implementation of International Humanitarian Law, and Zhejiang Gongshang University is proud to have him represent the institution on such a prestigious global platform.
