Welcome to Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law. It is our pleasure to extend our legal academic hand to students from all over the world. With China's rapid economic and political growth, studying Chinese Law is a great opportunity for students interested in building legal, cultural, business, and academic relationships with our country and its people. Zhejiang Gongshang University is located in Hangzhou, the capital of the Province of Zhejiang, approximately 100 miles south of Shanghai. Surrounded by one of the most robust economies in the nation and a tradition of private entrepreneurship, Zhejiang has been ranked as the province with most business-friendly environment in China. Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law is recognized as the major institution to train legal professionals in the province.

Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law was one of the very first schools providing legal education in Zhejiang Province. Its predecessor, Politics and Law College of Zhejiang Province, was first established in 1979. The school has been granted by the Ministry of Education of China to offer Master of Law Programs (LL.M.) and Juris Master Programs (J.M.). The School started recruiting international students in 2009. At present, the School offers master degrees in seven legal fields including Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law and Administrative Law, Civil Law and Business Law, Criminal Law, Criminal and civil Procedures Law, Economics Law, and International Law. Currently the School has over 1200 undergraduate students and 500 graduate students. In 2012, the School was selected by the Ministry of Education as one of sixty educational bases that educate outstanding practice-ready legal talents for the society from nearly seven hundred law schools nationwide.

The School has 78 full-time faculty members, among whom 14 are full professors, and 38 associate professors.  Twenty faculty members have experiences of studying abroad or visiting overseas law schools;ten of them obtained their doctorate or master degrees from noble universities in U.S, Canada, U.K, Australia, and Japan. The School has national known scholars in their own research areas such as Procedures law, International Law and Civil and Business Laws; and the whole faculty team is recognized as leading scholars and teachers within the province. The School has engaged a number of foreign law professors and scholars from U.S and U.K as our guest professors who teach courses on foreign laws or comparative law or give lectures for our students each year.

The School attaches great importance to international exchange, and has developed close collaboration with universities and institutions in U.S., Netherland, and Korea and other countries. In 2006-2012, the School joined partnership program named "Legal Clinic and Advocacy Education" led by University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law and American University Washington School of Law. This program was funded by U.S. Agency for International Development. Over twenty professors from Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law participated in this program, and thus had opportunity to expose themselves to the core idea of American legal experiential education "Learning by Doing" and multiple effective teaching methods.  This program has enhanced schools' mission in better educating outstanding practice-ready legal professionals. In addition, each year our students have opportunity to go abroad and study as exchange students or pursue their further degrees.

Through Zhejiang Gongshang University School of Law's diverse range of theoretical and practical courses and research, with national and international links, we deliver an educational experience that enables our students to meet their future career ambitions.
